Star Class - District 6

International Star Class Yacht Racing Association - District 6

So here’s the drill:

1. Get out on the water! This is a great chance to see that your gear is working before the May OD regatta.
2. Make sure you all invite at least one person to come out and trial a Star as a crew or skipper. Have them meet me on the RVYC dry Dock at noon.
3. Arrive on the water at RVYC EBF float (new shed) by noon. You will need to launch at 1100.
4. For RVYC sailors, April 6 is SAFETY DAY. The dry dock area will be crowded with folks checking their fire extinguishers etc. So launch early.
5. BRING a VHF and turn it on.  We will stay in touch on channel 73 .
6. The plan is to stay between the Jericho Dock breakwater and the western corner of the RVYC breakwater. Please don’t wander off.
7. We will rotate quests on and off Stars at the EBF float. We are hoping to give them a ride on several Stars.
8. Rob Cullen will be out on the water with a RIB offering pointers and ferrying sailors around.
9. Please circulate between the two breakwaters. If we can we will run a few windward leeward ( one lap) races.
10. The plan is to assign one Star as the Rabbit who will start on the GO whistle on PORT. at the leeward mark.  We will use a three minute count down. The rest of the fleet will start on starboard passing behind the Rabbit.
11. The western - most  red marker is the windward mark. The eastern-most red marker is the start / leeward mark.
Rob and I have family commitments on Sunday, so we will do the rig tuning seminar on a later date.
Please come out on Sunday and get some more practice in.
Any questions call me 778 837 2512.
