Fleet news and meeting recap
Gentlemen
A couple important items from our meeting last night.
1. Please sign up for the district 6 website and don’t forget to join the EB Fleet section stard6.ning.com This will be our main source of information for the fleet.
2. Schedule is attached. Note a couple date changes from the draft. Schedule . Please learn to use the attend, not attend function!
The Districts in Olympia will likely be the main travel event for the year as Seattle and Victoria dates are not yet confirmed.
3. Clinic. The EB Fleet will host a Star clinic with special guest Ross Macdonald coaching on the water with the help of John Hilton. This clinic will piggyback on the May 2/3 regatta with Saturday mostly practice and Sunday joining some racing. There will be a wine and cheese social Saturday evening to debrief. Video will be taken on the water. Please have your boat in the water with the sails up by 10:30 Saturday May 2. If you can not attend, it would be great if you can find a good sailor to borrow your boat and come out and see what Stars are all about.
4. Rules. Please get up to speed on the new rules. Dave Perry video clips is a good start for the basic changes. or more in depth article by Dick Rose, both posted right here. Don’t forget to buy and read the new rule book. We should have an informal get together and discuss rules before the season gets too far along. Gord is prepared to organize this.
5. Juniors and Fleet building. There are a number of older Stars at KYC that could be used for aspiring entries into the fleet. Don and Brett will make a list of older Juniors who may benefit from that. They will also try and find a weekend when the kids aren’t sailing lasers and have some of them come crew for a day or weekend. There are also some boats for sale. Get the word out to people who may want to join the fleet.
