A hardy group of 18 sailors emerged from Covid lockdown and raced this year's event at RVYC. Rob Cullen and Jamie Hynes won a hard fought regatta. The Capt. James Griffin trophy (1939) will bear their names for the second time. Green Star winners Andrew Alan and James Macdonald were second, and Bruce Long and Ray Rogers were third.

Foss and I agree that the Sept 18/19 weekend will:

- allow more US boats to participate after the NA regatta 

- reduce the star events to a more reasonable interval

- likely increase the English Bay fleet size

- there will be no Star regatta on Sept 4/5

On September 20, the English Bay Star fleet held it’s third “COVID responsible training event”. There were 11 Stars on the line. Of the ten R.V.Y.C. dry stored Stars, nine were competing. We are planning a further event on the October 17-18 weekend.

Appropriate with the COVID guidelines, next year we hoping to compete in the R.V.Y.C. Weekend One Design series regattas, the Kitsilano Invitational Regatta, the Wednesday Evening Series and the District 6 Championship.…

The COVID-19 advisory changes have allowed us to run a regatta on Sept. 20, 2020. Registration is pending on the RVYC website.

Continued COVID-19 pandemic health guidelines and Canadian border closure have necessitated CANCELLING the District 6 Championship at RVYC on September 5 & 6.

With the passing of Leonard A Frojen, the Eugene Star fleet has become inactive. Two boats are available (6777 and 6604) for FREE. Might make a cool project,  once the border opens. Contact Foss Miller for details.

I hope you’re all healthy and safe, and are all doing as well as you can!  As the Coronavirus plague continues, this season’s racing will start when authorities have determined it’s safe for people to congregate again.  At this time, C.Y.C. is planning to host our first Wednesday night racing during Wednesday, May 6^th, but this may change as the situation evolves.  The English Bay Fleet’s racing is now scheduled to start in late May, but…

As the public health pandemic is continuing, we should stay at home and sail virtually!

RVYC has closed the clubhouse, except take out food from the Star & Dragon. The May OD and the Wednesday Evening races have been cancelled for the immediate future. KYC has also closed the clubhouse. 
The plan for the April 18-19 training weekend will be announced in a few weeks. The presentations have been posted on WhatsApp.

The English Bay Star Fleet has discontinued the use of FaceBook.

We intend to keep this website open for interested folks to reach us. We will continue to post regatta schedules, results, Star Class links and District 6  contact information here.

Al Vittery has bought 7607 today. He is a RVYC and WVYC member. He has previously raced on many keelboats and one design dinghies. He’ll be looking for a crew and lots of input from us.

We warmed up after the October OD regatta and held the 2019 AGM on Sunday. There has been significant growth in the fleet and there is a realistic prospect for further additions in the spring. The enthusiasm is palpable.
