STAR SAILING – 100 years on!

On September 20, the English Bay Star fleet held it’s third “COVID responsible training event”. There were 11 Stars on the line. Of the ten R.V.Y.C. dry stored Stars, nine were competing. We are planning a further event on the October 17-18 weekend.

Appropriate with the COVID guidelines, next year we hoping to compete in the R.V.Y.C. Weekend One Design series regattas, the Kitsilano Invitational Regatta, the Wednesday Evening Series and the District 6 Championship. International competition will probably be delayed, but several teams are planning high level competition, once travel is safe.

The Star was originally designed in 1911 and has been modernized throughout its history. The R.V.Y.C. Star fleet was formed in 1923. Close to 100 years later, we remain enthusiastic and committed to excellence in One Design racing. We encourage sailors to consider the “One Design finishing school”, the resurgent Star.
