When I brought my boat back from Miami, somewhere in the 1st 200 miles it shifted 3-4" back and was only stopped by the back pads as the hull widened, I'm using ratchet tie downs and they were tight.  Go to threaded metal rod?  Anyone else have this issue?

I use 2 sets of 2 threaded  J rods hooked on the trailer frame. the threaded ends run through the cross beams -over the boat, two nuts on each rod on the top frame. finger tight.

I didn't have a problem with movement coming back from San Diego.

Dave,
I've used both cable tie downs, rods. Both systems I lock down the nut adjusters with PVC tape to the cross bars. Wrapping the tape around the nut handle and the cross bar locks the handle preventing the handle loosening up from road vibration.

I follow up with a check of the tie downs every fuel stop, to be sure all is in good form.

Hope this helps.

Rob
