Attached is this coming season's Sailing2012.pdf sailing schedule.  There are no major changes other than WAVES will be on one weekend for dinghys and keelboats.  Nothing much is going on after Kits until Labour Day.  Maybe, if we would like something in August, we could ask Kits to run an "August Series".  We have also discussed attending one RVYC…

Star Fleet Wednesday Evening Racing - RVYC

The English Bay Star Fleet is invited to participate in the Wednesday Evening Race Series on the FIRST WEDNESDAY of each month at RVYC. Starting on May 4 and then on each first monthly Wednesday, we will meet off RVYC @ 1800 for 1 or 2 informal races. ALL are invited.

English Bay Fleet - October Series Report

The 2010 sailing season for the English Bay Fleet ended in glorious fashion last weekend. Two days of beautiful, warm (for the time of year) sunshine with steady Westerly winds of 5 to 12 knots.



Congratulations to Bruce Long and his crew Paul who sailed strong all weekend to win our final regatta.



Phil Lockwood placed second followed very closely by Larry Warshawski in third.

WAVES Regatta at RVYC, Vancouver

2010 Vancouver Island Fleet Championships / Star Point Regatta

June 12 and 13th was VI's Fleet Championships held at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, the host of the District 6 Championships July 23rd to 25th.


It was an excellent weekend of racing with Saturday in a light 3 - 5 knot SW wind and Sunday in a blustery 15 Westerly with gusts into the mid-20's. PRO John Abel and his team pulled off 9 races, 5 Saturday and 4 on Sunday.

Gentleman,

I would like to start off by saying what a fantastic turnout for our first regatta of the year! 6 boats on saturday with two more coming out for sunday, well done boys! Let's please keep the momentum alive for our next round during the May Series (15th, 16th as Don has mentioned!).

Spirng is officially here! Time to get out of bed, remove the covers and hoist some sails for this weekend's RVYC April One Design Series. 2010 District 6 Championships - July 24 & 25 at The Royal Victoria Yacht Club

The Vancouver Island Star Fleet is excited to be hosting the Districts this coming July. We will be posting a Notice of Race within the next couple of weeks but want to get the date out so everyone can mark it in their calendars.


Paul Ulibarri is our PRO - for those that don't know Paul he was the PRO at the Beijing Olympics and was responsible for the Star Class - needless to say he is qualified for the job!

Star Class South American Championships

Congratulations to English Bay's own Ross Macdonald, who placed seventh in what appeared to be a very tough fleet. Ross and crew, Andre Lekszycki, placed as top North Americans at the South Americans, if that makes any sense. One look at the top 10 boats and you will see the who's who in Star racing and beyond.

English Bay Fleet Dues Please

Hi everyone in the English Bay Fleet. It's that time of year again and dues for 2010 should be sent to me ASAP so I can get them in to the International Office. Skips $95.00 and crew $45.00.



As mentioned in the AGM minutes it was suggested that crew who do not join the International are asked to pay $10.00 to the fleet which supports the years activities and maintain a zero budget account.

EB Star Fleet AGM Minutes

Dues. Dues for 2010 are $95 for Active (boat owner) and $45 for crew. All members are strongly encouraged to join the fleet through Fleet Secretary Ray Rogers. It is mandatory for boat owners to join if they wish to race. Crews who sail but do not want to join are encouraged to contribute $10 to the fleet for the season.
